Japanese artist Aona Hayashi creates her carta works on handmade Japanese washi paper.

The word carta comes from Portuguese, meaning “card” or “letter,” and is also the origin of the Japanese card game karuta.

Through this name and its intimate scale, these works are meant to gently enter everyday life. They can be placed on a desk, used as a bookmark, or given as a small message to someone you care about.

For online orders, each piece will be thoughtfully selected and shipped by us. (If you prefer to choose in person, you are welcome to visit U.I.J.) Framing service is also available.
